Overview

This tired and run down three bedroomed Victorian terrace in the fashionable seaside town of Whistable, Kent, underwent a total renovation & refurbishment from top to bottom, transforming it into an unrecognizably warm, welcoming and much loved holiday home for a young family.

Renovation works were required to get this originally lovely house with oddles of potential back into shape. Replacement floor joists and a damp proof course were required for the ground floor. A complete rewire, plumbing services and a new boiler were installed and an interior wall moved to create more floor space to enable a larger family kitchen and dining area. In addition to the layout and complete interior design service, Kate project managed the building works and designed the garden.

A classic kitchen was fitted and a beautiful oiled oak flooring laid throughout. A copper splashback, granite worktops, industrial style open shelving and black track lighting add designer edge and individual style. A modern black framed door replaced the original door, letting even more light flow into this family friendly and warm space.

Living Area & Snug.

Character and love was breathed back into these areas with high skirting boards and picture rails installed throughout. A retro style space saving vertical radiator was fitted and a woodstove adds additional warmth during the colder months, providing an attractive focal point. Bespoke shelving, low level cupboards and an understairs tongue and grooved cupboard area add storage along with the bespoke window seating area with drawers tucked underneath. Traditional bannisters were reinstated to the staircase and a striped jute runner adds the finishing touch.

Master Bedroom

A soothing, restful retreat. Shutters offer privacy to the front of the house and the wooden flooring was taken back to its original finery. Reading wall lights and a high buttoned headboard add touches of luxury. A clean and muted palette along with a subtle patterned Sanderson wallpaper, carefully chosen furniture pieces and artworks and a muted, soft rug all add to the serenity of this bedroom.

Children’s bedroom

This small room was transformed into a super sweet bedroom for two little girls. With the floorboards sanded back, tongue and groove half height paneling installed and shades of light blue used originally throughout, this bedroom fitted the occupants simple brief of ‘blue’ and ‘bunk beds’ perfectly! Touches such as the reading lights and dolly light switch add extra charm.

Guest Bedroom

A small bedroom fitted out to provide comfortable accommodation for occasional guests. With the floorboards back to their former glory, Farrow & Ball Peignoir was used on the walls with complimentary curtains and softening voiles. Simple, traditional style furniture pieces with a modern twist finish this off perfectly.

Client Testimonial.

“Having bought a holiday home in Whitstable I was looking for more than a builder to design and oversee all the considerable works needed for the house. I had a meeting with Kate and immediately decided I’d like to work with her. She exceeded all my expectations, designing an absolutely beautiful, warm and calm space whilst overseeing all the required building work. I loved her designs which included two completely refitted shower rooms, a beautiful kitchen extension and she even turned her hand to the garden. With regular meetings Kate was a pleasure to work with and provided clear, transparent pricing updates.
Needless to say we’re delighted with the result and I would not hesitate to recommend her”.
